We run a server running the Minecraft mod Thaumcraft created by the Great One Azanor. In this brief tutorial we surmise how you can install this mod into Minecraft so you can join our awesome world of magic and Thaumaturgy.
To join our server you will need a “modded Minecraft client” with Forge + a bought Minecraft copy. If you don’t have a full Minecraft account yet purchase one now at http://www.minecraft.net
To acquire the client download it from https://minecraft.net/download and run it and set up a profile for Minecraft 1.8.9. Then start up in that profile(the big “Play” button) once, then when you have the start screen press quit again.
A tutorial can be found here : http://www.howtogeek.com/203196/how-to-change-your-minecraft-game-version-and-set-up-profiles/
Get minecraft forge!
After you have downloaded and installed Minecraft you need to get Forge.
You can download Forge at http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.8.9.html
The recommended version at this time is Forge 1.8.9-188.8.131.523
If you are on linux download the link “Installer”, rightclick the file, mark as executable and then double click it, or in terminal execute it by java -jar $home/Downloads/*.jar(or whereever you downloaded it)
Download the file “Installer-win.exe” and double click it
Follow the steps in the installer.
Or follow the instructions in this video to install forge if you are not familiar with forge:
Then download the Thaumcraft version this server runs on. We try to run the latest version if possible but sometimes we wait a bit because of stability issues.
The version we run on today is :
Note to uses who update: The baubles mod can be outdated and doesn’t always update to the proper version the server uses. You can delete the baubles.jar from the mods/1.8.9 folder prior to running a new Thaumcraft. Thaumcraft will download the latest version that also runs on the server.
For this Thaumcraft version you will need forge 1763 or higher which you can download from http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.8.9.html/
See the video above to see how to install it.
Then when the forge environment is updated just place the jar/zip file in .minecraft/mods and start up your forge profile.
The server ip for in the multiplayer menu is:
